Smoky Sweet Soul is a labor of love. The idea was born after Chef David Munford learned how much people enjoy the foods he brought to potlucks, family gatherings and holiday parties. He made the decision that his food creations were good enough to take to the marketplace. His cooking background came from two very special people, his mother and maternal grandmother. Together, they spent countless hours in the kitchen, where he watched them work their magic over the years. After both women passed, David found cooking as a form of therapy, and honors them with his business.

 

David worked in corporate America for many years in finance, sales and business development. His background has provided the skills to develop and implement a systematic plan of providing quality service and customer satisfaction.

As the visionary for Smoky Sweet Soul he has made it a mission to provide food that is flavorful and memorable. Smoky Sweet Soul provides soul food and barbecue options that are acceptable for vegetarians, pescatarians or pesco-pollo vegetarian diets. In early 2019, Smoky Sweet Soul was named the winner for the Catering and Take-out category at the Launch Test Kitchen showcase, located in the Rocket Mortgage Field House. Smoky Sweet Soul is a caterer and mobile food service provider that focuses on providing food that is the perfect combination of savory, smoky, sweet food for the soul. Our motto says it all "Come Hungry, Leave Happy".
